Under the supervision of the Odesa regional prosecutor's office, five residents of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi district have been charged with committing diversions, deliberately damaging energy facilities, and property (Part 2 of Article 113, Part 2 of Article 194-1, Part 2 of Article 194 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspects received orders from a Russian agent to carry out diversions for a fee at Ukrzaliznytsia facilities and strategically important enterprises in the region.
Over several months, they organized arson attacks on relay cabinets, transformer substations, and buildings of local authorities.
The arsons were carried out at night using flammable materials, special equipment for accessing cabinets, and pre-arranged transport for quick movement between locations.
To confirm the completion of tasks to their handlers, the suspects recorded their actions on video.
All five have been placed in custody without the right to bail.
The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region.
Note: According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a lawful manner.
