The revitalization of electric transport in Odesa has become a key focus for the local authorities.

Approximately 80 trams operate daily across 13 routes, with route number 7 being the most frequented, while route 20 has only 2 trams.

On September 30, 2024, another majorly refurbished Tatra T3 tram was put into service.

“Despite the ongoing war, we are committed to enhancing public transport in Odesa. This tram was refurbished at a cost of 4 million hryvnias, while a new tram would cost at least 18 million. I am grateful to our team for their dedicated efforts,” said Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov.

The refurbished tram has been completely modernized, featuring a new management system and achieving 40% greater efficiency.

The mayor also mentioned that they are exploring the possibility of installing wheelchair lift mechanisms on older Tatra models.

The Tatra T3 tram was refurbished at the workshops of KP “Odesmiskelektrotrans” using the company’s own funds. This is a distinctive example of a major repair project.
During the overhaul, the interior and driver’s cabin were upgraded, new seating was installed, and a new heating and air conditioning system was added, along with glued glass.
Plans are in place to complete another similar tram by the end of 2024 and two more in 2025.
Additionally, in early 2024, two Tatra T-3-Od trams were modernized and are successfully operating on the “North – South” route. They underwent major repairs and retrofitting funded by the budget.
In 2025, plans are set for similar upgrades on another four trams.
