Automatic modular restrooms designed for individuals with disabilities are set to be introduced in Odessa. This initiative was discussed during a meeting of the Barrier-Free Council chaired by Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

In response to a request from the expert group of the Barrier-Free Council, the city’s Department of Urban Services has examined the implementation of similar facilities in Ukraine, particularly in Kyiv.

During the meeting, a model featuring two stalls was presented: one spacious enough to accommodate a wheelchair user or a mother with a stroller. The metal anti-corrosive stall is equipped with an automatic cleaning system, motion sensors for each function, and an automatic unlocking system after 15 minutes. It also includes a call button for assistance and a module for cashless payments.

The proposal to install such automatic modular restrooms at Sobornaya Square, in the City Garden, along Primorsky Boulevard, and on the Avenue of Ukrainian Heroes will be submitted to the Odessa City Council.
