The juvenile police of Ukraine, in collaboration with the railway company, are launching a new initiative to combat the dangerous trend of adolescents engaging in — rail surfing.
Teenagers, seeking thrills, often climb onto train roofs, hang onto moving trains, and cross tracks in prohibited areas.
This is not just an extreme sport; it poses a real threat to life and health: fatal injuries, amputations, or electrical shocks are possible.
From April 10 to May 10, 2025, a joint preventive campaign by the juvenile police and the railway company will take place.
During this month:
- we will visit schools and vocational institutions
- we will have open discussions with children
- together with specialists, we will explain why the railway is not a place for games!
What to do if you witness dangerous behavior by children on the railway?
If you are at a station and see children who are:
- trying to climb onto a train
- already on the roof
- playing near the tracks
Act immediately, but carefully.
Report to the station attendant or any railway employee.
Call the police (102) or the emergency service (101) — specialists will respond quickly.
Make a remark or call out to children who are planning to rail surf or are already outside of a passenger car.
Document the incident and the individuals involved — this will assist in identification and informing their parents.
Be attentive to your children. Talk to them about the real risks!
