On the night of February 4, Odessa was once again the target of a massive attack by Russian forces using strike drones. The energy infrastructure was damaged, and four individuals were injured.
Oleg Kiper, the head of the Odessa Regional Military Administration, confirmed that the drone strike resulted in damage to the city's energy infrastructure. Currently, emergency power outages are in effect in certain parts of the city. Utility services are working to activate generators to restore critical infrastructure, including heating plants. Additional resilience points are being deployed on top of the 425 already in operation. Additionally, due to falling debris and blast waves, two private homes and a business center were damaged.
Three individuals sustained shrapnel wounds and fractures. They are currently hospitalized in moderate condition. Another person, who was in the business center during the attack, suffered a concussion.
"All relevant services are working on eliminating the consequences of the attack. Law enforcement is documenting another crime by the Russians against the civilian population of Odessa," Kiper noted.
The Odessa Regional Prosecutor’s Office stated that a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the commission of war crimes (part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). According to the investigation, the Russian armed forces attacked Odessa with drones, preliminarily identified as Shahed-136, with the exact number being established.
"Fires broke out at several addresses, which firefighters quickly extinguished. The complexity of extinguishing the fire was compounded by repeated air alerts. Psychologists from the State Emergency Service worked with local residents," the SES reported, adding that 80 rescuers and 17 units of equipment were involved in eliminating the aftermath.
The city authorities announced that tram number 18 in Odessa has been temporarily suspended. Buses are operating on the route, while tram number 17 will run between Kulikovo Field and the 6th station of the Great Fountain at an interval of four units every 8-9 minutes.
