The state postal operator "Ukrposhta" is preparing to launch its revamped mobile app, which will be available by the end of June this year.

According to CEO Ihor Smilyansky in an interview with Forbes Ukraine, the new app is one of the company's key projects for 2025.

"We plan to launch the new app by the end of the first half of the year. It will not only track parcels but also provide interaction with customs authorities, show the estimated delivery date, and allow document confirmations and viewing of shipment and payment history", — he stated.

The initial launch of the new "Ukrposhta" app was scheduled for 2024 but was postponed for several reasons. The previous app has low ratings in the App Store and Google Play. One of its major flaws is the lack of notifications about parcel status. The new version is expected to allow parcel rerouting to other branches, which currently can only be done via phone or in-person at post offices.

Smilyansky also revealed that about 1 billion UAH was invested in automation in 2024. "This amount includes guarantees for five years, and all of it is our own financing", — he emphasized.

According to Smilyansky, over 90% of parcels are now delivered on time. "I measure the effect of automation by the responses on Facebook and TikTok. Previously, under each of my posts, there were dozens or even hundreds of comments about how poorly "Ukrposhta" delivered. In the last two months, there have been almost none. This is the most honest indicator for me because it cannot be faked. We have launched full automation and are currently refining the IT system so that customers can see the estimated delivery date at the time of sending", — he concluded.

Recall that in February 2025, "Ukrposhta" fully automated parcel sorting. In January 2025, the government transferred the shares of the First Investment Bank, previously owned by Russian oligarchs, to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, which will subsequently hand them over to "Ukrposhta". This will enable the postal operator to have its own banking institution. Earlier, Ihor Smilyansky stated that after establishing its own bank, "Ukrposhta"'s capitalization would increase, allowing it to build an Amazon in a Ukrainian format. It is also worth noting that last year "Ukrposhta" reported a revenue of 12.98 billion UAH, which is 8% more than nearly 12 billion in 2023. However, taking into account the annual inflation rate of 14.6%, the real growth turned into a decline, with losses amounting to 387 million UAH by the end of 2024.
