On August 27, a prestigious awards ceremony for the winners of the IV municipal competition named after Ivan Franko took place at the Central Library.
This event was organized in honor of the birthday of the illustrious Ukrainian writer, philosopher, and public figure I. Ya. Franko.
In 2024, the competition, which brought together literary talents from various regions of Ukraine, is being held for the fourth time.
The laureates of the competition include:
in the «Journalism» category:
- Viacheslav Kushnir (Odesa, «Pages of Newspapers and Facebook»);
- Eduard Amchislavsky (New York, «Actors, Cinema, Odesa…»);
in the «Prose» category:
- Volodymyr Shevchenko-Vasylenko (Kremenchuk, «The Boat Drifts Full of Grief»);
- Iryna Feofanova (Irpin, «Stranger, Native»);
in the «Poetry» category:
- Oksana Lozova (Lviv, «Time Doesn’t Pass»), along with her son Vasyl Lozovyi, who is currently serving Ukraine, wrote the collection «We Are-Yes!»;
- Yurii Ostrovershenko (Vradievka, Mykolaiv region, poetry collection «Whip»);
in the «Promotion of Ivan Franko's Work» category:
- Denys Rudyi (Odesa, second prize, script for the literary and musical concert «Withered Leaves»),
- Olesia Franko (Kalush, first prize, local history tour «Franko's City»).
A special award from the Franko Library was presented to Vasyl Dobrianskyi, a member of the National Union of Writers of Ukraine and author of historical novels from Ivano-Frankivsk.
The director of the Centralized Library System for Adults, Natalia Klykova, was awarded a certificate of honor from the Odesa District Council.
To conclude the event, students and teachers from Odesa Art School No. 1 named after Hilels performed, along with award-winning writer Svitlana Lukina.
On Ivan Franko's birthday, library staff and fans of the writer's work laid flowers at his monument.

The literary competition was established in 2021 to mark the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence Day and the 165th anniversary of the birth of the great Ukrainian writer, philosopher, and public figure I. Franko.
