Odessa's own Diana Yastremska has made it past the second round of the French Open, known as Roland Garros, for the second time in her career, currently taking place in Paris.
Diana kicked off her Roland Garros journey against Australian player Destanee Aiava, who received a wild card. The first set saw fierce competition, but ultimately, Diana claimed victory with a score of 7:5, 6:1.
Her best performance at the French Open was reaching the third round, which she achieved last year.
In the 1/32 finals, the Odessa tennis player took down the world’s 12th seed, Russian Diana Schneider, with a score of 7:5, 7:5. The match lasted 1 hour and 51 minutes, marking their second encounter, where Diana managed to avenge her previous defeat.
In the next round, she will face another Russian player, Lyudmila Samsonova.

"Roland Garros" is one of the four Grand Slam tournaments held in Paris at the «Roland Garros» tennis complex. The competition traditionally takes place over two weeks at the end of May and beginning of June, starting from 1891.
