In September, educational institutions owned by the municipal community of Odesa implemented a series of initiatives as part of the nationwide mental health program “How are you?”.
The activities were aimed at supporting the mental well-being of participants in the educational process.
Specifically, for students and pupils, a thematic mental health week titled “To live happily, we need to be friends!” was organized, along with psychological exercises and emotional well-being activities, quests “With a Smile to the Land of Knowledge”, and classes on “How to overcome fear during air alerts”. Children learned techniques to reduce stress and emotional tension.
A competition for social videos titled “The Meaning of Life and My Place in It” was held for schoolchildren, along with dance flash mobs during the “Olympic Week”, training sessions, and discussions.
Teachers participated in roundtable discussions “What is Mental Health and How to Maintain It?”, meetings with psychologists on “Children's Mental Health During War”, classes under the “Safe Space” program, seminars, and lectures. During these events, approaches to support students in this challenging period were discussed.
Consultations and practical sessions aimed at supporting children during the war were also held for parents.
Additionally, general school events took place. Information stands with QR codes for the program “How are you?” were set up in accessible locations.
To support mental health and reduce stress, as well as to develop resilience and self-esteem, school campaigns “Mood Smile”, “Hugs”, psychological online classes, and individual consultations for all participants in the educational process were organized.
