In Odessa, a major renovation of Hospital No. 1 is taking place, which boasts a history of over 200 years and serves as an essential healthcare institution in the city.
«This is not merely a renovation; it symbolizes a new chapter for the hospital, commonly known as the Jewish hospital. We are committed to preserving our cultural heritage while creating a healing environment for both patients and staff,» emphasized Odessa's Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.
Currently, the surgical pavilion and the former utility building, which will be transformed into a rehabilitation center, are undergoing remodeling.
The construction work is being carried out without interrupting medical services — the hospital continues to accept patients.
Previously, the emergency and gynecology departments have been updated, and the roofs of the therapeutic and neurology buildings have been repaired.
This has not only enhanced patient accommodations but also ensured the continuity of medical services.
The facility is equipped with alternative energy and water supply sources, which are critically important during wartime.
Additionally, the installation of a new modular boiler is ongoing, which will provide stable heating for all hospital buildings.
The mayor noted that the restoration of the surgical pavilion and the modular boiler installation are funded by the European Investment Bank as part of Ukraine's recovery program.
The project is being implemented on a co-financing basis: 80% from the bank and 20% from the city budget.
