On the eve of World AIDS Day, celebrated on December 1, a crucial meeting took place in Odesa involving representatives from relevant organizations.

Amidst the ongoing war, Odesa continues to ensure the stability of medical services in the fight against HIV and tuberculosis.

Free HIV testing is available at all city hospitals, primary healthcare centers, maternity hospitals, and specialized «Trust» offices. Quick tests allow patients to learn their HIV status within 10-15 minutes.

Those with positive test results are referred to the City AIDS Center for further examination and treatment. High-quality antiretroviral therapy is provided free of charge, enabling HIV-positive individuals to live fulfilling lives without endangering their partners' health.

In the first 10 months of 2025, 34,792 individuals were tested in Odesa, uncovering 301 positive cases. Out of those tested, 19,140 were examined by primary care doctors.

Family doctors conduct tuberculosis screening through questionnaires. This year, 702 suspected cases of tuberculosis were identified, with 542 cases confirmed.

The meeting participants discussed ways to strengthen collaboration between medical institutions and NGOs for better referral of patients with positive HIV tests to specialists.

Medical staff also provided free anonymous HIV and hepatitis testing for all interested employees and visitors at the Administrative Services Center.
