Ukrainian grandmaster Anna Muzychuk, competing for the "Freedom" club, has won a bronze medal at the 2025 World Rapid and Blitz Team Championship.
Following her victory over reigning world champion Ju Wenjun at the prestigious Norway Chess tournament, where she claimed gold, Anna participated in her second team world championship in rapid and blitz held in London.
Muzychuk joined the "Freedom" team, which included nine other chess players, including five-time world champion Viswanathan Anand. A total of 54 teams participated, playing 12 rounds in a Swiss system format, with six players in each team.
The former world champion of 2016 in rapid and blitz played six games in the club championship: she achieved one victory against Shoka Gaalem from "Team Hungary", four draws, and suffered a defeat to Elina Rebers from "Knight Dance" in the final, 12th game. Thus, Muzychuk contributed three points to her team's total.
At the end of the 12 rounds, the "Freedom" team accumulated 17 points, securing the bronze medals. The championship was won by "Team MGD1" with 21 points, while the silver medal went to "Hexamind Chess Team" with 20 points.
According to the latest FIDE ranking updated in June, Anna Muzychuk holds the seventh position with 2535 points.
