Engagement in sports is a vital aspect of helping veterans reintegrate into civilian life, as well as promoting their physical and psychological well-being.
In the Peresyp district of Odesa, the first pickleball training session was held for veterans and their spouses. The event was also attended by representatives from the Odesa City Council's Department of Veterans Affairs.
Pickleball combines elements of tennis and badminton and is characterized by its high inclusivity, making it accessible to individuals of all fitness levels.
The training was led by veteran Mykhailo Zimin, who advocated for the inclusion of pickleball in rehabilitation activities.
“We continue to support initiatives aimed at developing veterans' policies in close cooperation with the community and the veterans themselves,” noted Vladimir Yermakov, the director of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
