Odesa athletes claimed five medals at the European Karate Championship held from February 6 to 8 in Limassol, Cyprus.
Approximately 1200 competitors from 40 European countries participated in the event.
The students from Odesa's sports schools and athletes from the All-Ukrainian Karate Federation achieved remarkable results.
Maxim Vechanov (Youth Sports School No. 15) became the European champion, marking his third medal in the youth championship.
Hanna Maistreko (Youth Sports School No. 15) earned a silver medal.
Vladyslav Rudenko (Youth Sports School No. 16), Serhiy Stankov (SK “Legion”), and Ulyana Baranova (SK “Okinawa”) also secured silver medals, repeating their achievements from previous competitions.
Maxim Vechanov and Ulyana Baranova headed straight to Fujairah (UAE) for participation in the Karate World League.
The athletes were trained by: Volodymyr Zaretskyi, Oleksiy Konovalov, and instructors: Volodymyr Holoveshko, Dmytro Negaturov, Denys Sustretov, Orkhan Yusifov, and Ruslan Khomutenko.
