In April 2023, YouTube reclaimed its position as the number one platform for viewing on smart TVs. According to the latest Nielsen report, Google's service accounted for 12.4% of the total time users spent watching TV content.
For the third consecutive month, YouTube remains the most popular platform for TV viewing, achieving its highest share of watch time yet. Meanwhile, the rankings for other services have remained unchanged since the start of 2023.
The top five also includes Disney, which boasts the most popular series of the month, "Grey's Anatomy," as well as Paramount, which saw the largest growth compared to the previous month, along with NBC Universal and Netflix.
It's worth noting that in February, reports indicated that more users began watching YouTube on TVs, leading to a decline in smartphone viewing as the primary platform. This aligns with the company's vision, which is preparing updates to allow YouTube to showcase content from other streaming services.
This trend is also supported by podcasts that are actively published on YouTube. According to Google, over 1 billion people watch them each month.
