Meta has previewed two models of smart glasses in a video that has since been taken down. According to UploadVR, the clip was shared on the Ray-Ban channel and likely hints at significant announcements during this week's Meta Connect conference.
The video revealed that the Ray-Ban Display glasses will feature a screen in the right lens. Various use scenarios were showcased, including map navigation, real-time translation, interaction with Meta AI, and composing messages. Control will be facilitated via a wristband utilizing sEMG (surface electromyography) technology, which interprets electrical signals from the hand muscles, enabling users to 'write' in the air or execute commands through gestures.
The second model, Oakley Sphaera, sports a sleek design with a camera positioned on the bridge of the nose, presumably aimed at capturing photos and videos from the user's perspective. Meta is actively expanding its device lineup following the launch of the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses in 2023, which allowed for photo and video capture and voice assistant usage. The company now aims to integrate a display and enhance interaction with Meta AI to make the glasses more versatile. The official unveiling of these new devices is expected at Meta Connect on September 17, 2025, hosted by CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
