Microsoft has introduced its latest innovation in image generation based on text prompts, named MAI-Image-1. This model was unveiled in October 2025 and is now available for users through Bing Image Creator and Copilot Audio Expression.
This marks the company’s third model release. In August 2025, Microsoft launched MAI-Voice-1 for creating natural speech and also introduced MAI-1-preview, its inaugural text model.
In Bing Image Creator, MAI-Image-1 is now available alongside other models like DALL‑E 3 and GPT‑4o. In Copilot Audio Expression, it will be utilized in Story Mode for visual storytelling.
The model is accessible in all countries that have Bing Image Creator and Copilot Labs, including Ukraine, although it is currently unavailable in the European Union.
As Microsoft previously stated, MAI-Image-1 “excels at creating photorealistic images, such as lighting effects and landscapes.” The model has also ranked within the top ten for text-based image generation on LMArena.
