How scammers operate: The agency reveals their tactics:

  • First, they hack into an account and download the user's video message;
  • Then, they create a fake monologue where the hacked user supposedly asks for money;
  • They send this forged video to the user's friends and acquaintances.

To avoid falling for this scam, law enforcement advises verifying information if you receive such a suspicious video. Ask the acquaintance to contact you through another messenger or call you. It's also advisable to enable two-factor authentication to protect your account.
