Since the beginning of 2025, the company "Naftogaz" has imported approximately 800 million cubic meters of gas due to enemy shelling and losses in gas production.
This was reported by the press service of "Naftogaz".
This information was provided by the acting chairman of Naftogaz, Roman Chumak, during a meeting with the Japanese ambassador to Ukraine, Masashi Nakagome.
"As a result of the shelling, part of the gas production was lost, so the top priority is to restore damaged facilities and resume production before the next heating season begins.
Additionally, the Group continues to import gas to compensate for losses and build up sufficient reserves – since the beginning of the year, about 800 million cubic meters of gas have been imported," the statement said.
Naftogaz also noted that work is underway with the government and international partners to find financing opportunities for the necessary gas volumes for the next winter.
As a reminder:
Ukraine may import a record 5 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe due to Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and depletion of reserves.
