In Odesa, a trial has commenced against participants of an espionage network that operated in favor of Russian intelligence, adjusting fire on military and medical facilities. They provided details about at least 10 such sites. Two of the perpetrators are in custody, while the third is serving an 8-year sentence.

This was reported by the Odesa Regional Prosecutor's Office.

Law enforcement officials stated that the accused, under the supervision of a Russian intelligence officer, gathered information about the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units and critical infrastructure in Odesa.

"The organizer of the espionage network turned out to be a 23-year-old local resident. Under the curator's direction, she involved two of her friends who also supported the aggressor's actions. They wrote and submitted applications to work for one of the Russian intelligence agencies.

For several months, the trio collected and sent via messenger text messages, photos, videos, and Google Maps screenshots of the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units, recruitment centers, hospitals, and air defense systems. They managed to inform the occupiers about at least 10 facilities," the statement reads.

For their "work," the women received $500 and hoped to take leadership positions in the trade management upon occupation.

The accused were detained in June 2024 while collecting information about the location of a military unit. Currently, two women are in custody while the third is already serving her sentence. Considering their cooperation with the investigation, genuine remorse, and the fact that one was pregnant, the court imposed a lighter penalty than what the law stipulates.
