The city of Odesa has received 7 new cogeneration units with a total capacity of 2.2 MW as part of the project «Enhancing Urban Resilience in Ukraine».
This initiative is part of German transitional assistance, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ) and implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).
So far, two initial units have been installed, which will provide stable heating to approximately 23,000 consumers, including residential buildings, schools, and healthcare facilities.
«These units produce heat and electricity simultaneously, allowing boilers to operate even during a complete power outage in the city. We are preparing for winter now to ensure our citizens are warm under any circumstances. I sincerely thank our partners,» said Odesa's mayor, Hennadii Trukhanov.
The installation of cogeneration units is ongoing.
