A large lake has formed at the site of the break, which continues to expand. Repair crews are unable to access the pipeline due to the depth of the mud.
Some pumping stations have halted operations to drain the water supply, leaving the Primorsky district also without water.
As of 4:00 PM, the following areas are without water supply due to the pipeline break:
- Primorsky district of Odessa;
- Kyiv district of Odessa;
- part of the Khadyzheby district (neighborhood ‘Cheremushki’);
- village Lymanka, village Chervonyi Khutir, neighborhood ‘Rainbow’, neighborhoods ‘Sovinyon 1-5’, neighborhood ‘Chornomorka’, and housing cooperative ‘Tairova’.
When will water supply be restored?
Infoks Vodokanal states that the exact time for restoring water supply can only be determined after excavations are completed and the damage is assessed. However, preliminary estimates suggest that water may be returned to residents by 8:00 AM on Friday, June 13.
The water supply company assures that repair crews will continue working through the night.
