Every year, during the warm season, the employees of the municipal enterprise «Service Center» in Odessa clean and maintain monuments that are not part of cultural heritage. Currently, there are 45 such objects under the management of the enterprise, located throughout the city.
In addition to cleaning, monuments are also repaired and painted as needed.
Recently, specialists from the «Service Center» completed repairs on six monumental objects and landscaping elements:
- the monument «The Abduction of Europe»;
- the monument to hero pilot M. Gastello;
- the monument to Boris Derev'yanko;
- a commemorative plaque;
- the monument to T.G. Shevchenko;
- landscaping element located at Ovidiopolskaya road, corner of Central Airport street.
During the repairs, stairs were restored, all damages on the structures were fixed, chips and stains on the tiled surface were removed, and all painted elements were renewed.
To prevent possible vandalism, monuments are treated with anti-vandal protective solutions at the final stage of work.
Additionally, starting from spring and lasting until autumn, monuments are washed twice a month. Special chemical agents are used for cleaning dust (for tiles or granite), along with specialized equipment. Lifts are also employed as needed.
