The Odesa authorities continue to implement initiatives aimed at creating accessible environments, supporting the modernization of «Otrada» beach.
On September 24, the city council members approved a decision to allocate 1 million hryvnias for the development of project documentation for the renovation of the municipal «Otrada» beach (located between buoys No. 6-b and No. 6-v).
The main goal of the project is to provide comfortable conditions for the recreation of people with limited mobility.
The renovation plans include: constructing an inclusive ramp for easy access to the beach; building modular facilities, including administrative and sanitary spaces, as well as inclusive restrooms; setting up changing cabins, including those accessible for individuals with disabilities; and laying wooden decking 1.4 m wide to zones designated for sun loungers and other amenities.
A special focus will be on developing adaptive paddling. The beach will have dedicated storage areas for sports equipment (including kayaks), which will open new opportunities for individuals with disabilities in water sports.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to create a barrier-free environment, particularly in recreational and wellness areas. This year, an inclusive beach at the 11th station of the Big Fountain was opened after renovation.
