To enhance road safety and effectively respond to winter weather, the Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» is launching a series of new initiatives.
Traditionally, by November, street cleaning operations are completed, and equipment is modified. The tanks of washing vehicles are removed and replaced with salt and sand spreaders.
Winter equipment is being installed, with most machines fitted with snow plows. All equipment undergoes inspection and preventive maintenance. After the preparatory work is complete, the functionality of the equipment will be tested on the enterprise's premises.
The Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» has snow removal vehicles, sand spreaders, graders, excavators, and other specialized machinery. In the 2024-2025 winter season, 104 units of equipment and 560 workers will be involved in snow removal and ice control operations. As of November 4, 37 units of equipment have been prepared. The preparation is expected to be completed by the end of November.
Additionally, the enterprise is preparing a sand-salt mixture for ice control. In case of worsening weather conditions, the enterprise has 11,860 tons of reagents for treating road surfaces.
The Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» has developed 17 routes for snow removal vehicles to ensure prompt cleaning of roads from snow drifts and removal of ice. There are also 54 routes planned for spreading reagents on streets to reduce road hazards during icy conditions.
Starting December 1, 2024, the traditional 24/7 duty of the teams from the Municipal Enterprise «City Roads» will begin to respond quickly to worsening weather conditions. The duty rooms are prepared, and the staff operating the equipment is provided with winter clothing.
