Military Instructor Arrested in Odesa Region for Bribery
On February 21, it was reported that a military recruitment center instructor was arrested in the Odesa region.
Authorities discovered that the officer demanded 50,000 hryvnias from a man he was assisting with military registration documents.
"In return for this amount, the suspect promised to influence military officials to grant the citizen deferment documents, allowing him to pass law enforcement checks without issues", — stated in the report.
Later, the amount was reduced to 20,000 hryvnias, and the officer was detained after receiving the money. The cash was seized as evidence.
The Specialized Prosecutor's Office added that the military took the man's passport to ensure the payment:
"In January 2025, the suspect offered his "assistance" again, lowering the bribe to 20,000 hryvnias. The citizen, forced to agree, informed law enforcement and continued to act under their guidance".
The arrest took place on February 19. The man was charged under part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which carries a penalty of up to eight years in prison with property confiscation. The question of preventive measures for the suspect is currently being resolved.
