From April 20 to May 9, 2025, a temporary ban on herring fishing will be enforced in the Odesa region. This restriction applies to specific sections of the Danube and Dniester rivers, as well as the Dniester estuary. This was reported by the «Odesa Fish Protection Patrol».

The restrictions will be in effect in the following areas:

  • from April 20 to 29 — Danube River: from the mouth to the branch of the Tulchin mouth;
  • from April 20 to May 9 — Danube River: upstream from the Tulchin mouth branch;
  • from April 20 to 29 — Dniester River: from the village of Palanka to the Dubossary Hydroelectric Power Plant dam;
  • from April 20 to 24 — Dniester estuary, Turunchuk arm, and the main channel of the Dniester River: from the mouth to the village of Palanka (28 km mark).

The ban aims to protect fish populations during the spawning period. The Odesa Fish Protection Patrol will monitor compliance with the restrictions.

Violating the established rules may result in administrative or criminal liability under current legislation.
