With the arrival of spring, there is a notable rise in the performance of solar power plants in Ukraine, encouraging adjustments in energy consumption. Citizens are urged to use high-power electrical appliances during daylight hours.

This was reported by the press service of ‘Ukrenergo’.

“It is crucial to follow recommendations regarding shifting energy consumption to daylight hours on sunny days. Please utilize high-power appliances from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM — this is when the energy system most requires support,” the statement reads.

Energy experts explain that the active operation of solar stations during the day leads to excess electricity production, necessitating certain restrictions on their operation.

During peak consumption hours in the evening, on the contrary, solar energy is no longer available, and it must be replaced by other sources.

Moreover, balancing the daytime excess power through exports is challenging, as neighboring countries also have high capacities of solar power plants.

“Currently, the difference between sunny and cloudy days is equivalent to the capacity of several energy blocks of large thermal power plants,” they added at ‘Ukrenergo’.

On cloudy and cold days, energy specialists encourage shifting electricity consumption to evening and night hours due to daytime generation limitations during peak demand periods.

Reminder:

On April 17, morning electricity consumption was 5% lower than the previous day — April 16.
