A UNESCO team led by Ms. Chiara Deci Bardeschi has arrived in Odesa.

The members are inspecting cultural heritage sites affected by the attack on November 14.

According to Ivan Liptuga, Director of the Department of Culture of the Odesa City Council, 22 architectural monuments were damaged during the attack, with 19 located within the UNESCO heritage site.

«Next week, a special commission will convene to draft reports on the damage, allowing UNESCO to provide urgent assistance», — stated Ivan Liptuga.

«UNESCO strongly condemns this violation of international law regarding attacks on cultural heritage. We are collaborating with local authorities and experts to understand our next steps», said Ms. Chiara Deci Bardeschi.
