Preparations for the New Year celebrations are underway in Odessa. Recently, city workers began setting up the main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street.
This year's Christmas tree stands 20 meters tall and 9 meters wide. At its top, there will traditionally be a star. The main Christmas tree will be decorated with elements of traditional Ukrainian patterns and blue-yellow ribbons.
The official opening is scheduled for December 6th, which is St. Nicholas Day.
«On St. Nicholas Day, the main Christmas tree in Odessa will be inaugurated, along with a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration. Guests will enjoy a concert from the Odessa Municipal Brass Band named after O. Salik, alongside performances from talented children attending local creative institutions. Additionally, festive events will take place in various municipal venues, including the zoo,» said Ivan Liptuga, Director of the Department of Culture, International Cooperation, and European Integration.
Due to martial law and curfew restrictions, mass street celebrations on New Year's Eve are not planned.
