The Japanese Culture Days are taking place in Odesa, marking the 60th anniversary of the friendship between our city and Yokohama, Japan.

The events will feature artistic and educational activities under the title “Japan – Land of the Rising Sun.” Participants will engage in discussions, art lessons, workshops, exhibitions, animation screenings, and tea ceremonies, allowing them to explore Japanese culture and traditions.

Main events will commence on April 29 at the Central City Library named after I.Ya. Franko (Book Lane, 1a).

Visitors will have the chance to appreciate the richness of Japanese culture and the ongoing development of friendly relations between our cities.

“Our relationship with Yokohama illustrates how, despite distance and language differences, cities can be close in spirit,” stated Odesa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov.

Additionally, from April 28 to May 2, 2025, an exhibition titled “Mysterious Japan through the Eyes of Ukrainian Artists” will be held in the hall of the Odesa City Hall (Birzhevaya Square, 1).

This event is organized with the support of the Faculty of Art and Graphics of the Southern Ukrainian National Pedagogical University named after K.D. Ushinsky and the Municipal Institution “City Art Gallery.”
