As the new academic year approaches, educational institutions in Odesa are undergoing intensive preparations.
The primary focus is on ensuring children's safety: currently, 90 out of 120 schools have their own shelters, and the modernization continues.
A vivid example is School No. 62, where engineers successfully relocated a complex communication system, deepened the basement floor, and reinforced the foundation. Now, more than 500 children can learn simultaneously in their native school.
The shelter will also be open to local residents.
At School No. 122, the existing shelter is being expanded, the gym is under renovation, and STEM laboratories are being created, indicating a commitment to educational advancement and early specialization.
Both schools previously suffered from shelling. Today, educators and builders are fully restoring their operations.
«We are not just repairing walls; we are creating a safe, comfortable, and inspiring environment where children want to grow and develop», commented Pavlo Vuhelman, Deputy Mayor of Odesa.
In total, nearly 325 million UAH has been allocated for repair work in the city's educational sector this year. Work is also ongoing at Lyceum No. 125 and Mykhailivskyi, Gymnasiums No. 12 and No. 61.
Thanks to international partners, Kindergarten No. 14 is being restored, and Kindergarten No. 29 has already started welcoming children.
«Thank you to everyone involved — educators, builders, deputies, parents, and partners. Childhood is unique, and caring for it is the true essence for Odesa», said Olena Buynievych, Director of the Department of Education and Science.
