Under the nationwide initiative «Breaking Barriers», implemented with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Office of the First Lady, schools in Odessa are holding lessons focused on barrier-free education.
In particular, lessons aimed at instilling a culture of respect and tolerance were conducted in the Peresyp district.
During these classes, students discussed the concept of barrier-free environments and learned to understand the needs of people with disabilities, the elderly, parents with small children, and other social groups. They engaged in interactive tasks, watched video materials, participated in discussions, and took part in role-playing games.
Teachers paid special attention to developing empathy and practical skills for inclusive behavior, including how to offer help appropriately, how to avoid stereotypes, and how everyone can make their surroundings more friendly and accessible.
First-grade students received a notebook titled «Life Without Barriers».
Such initiatives help cultivate a generation of youth that can embrace diversity, value human dignity, and create an atmosphere of respect and mutual support. Students learn to notice and support each other, which will aid them in building a society of equal opportunities in the future.
