Recently, an engaging lecture took place at a local gymnasium, led by forensic experts from the Odesa District Police Department No. 1, Captain Max Pasichny and Senior Lieutenant Yulia Sokerchak.
During the event, students learned about the methods of evidence collection and analysis, which play a critical role in crime investigations. Special attention was given to identifying traces left by offenders at crime scenes. The experts also demonstrated how to properly take fingerprints and discussed different techniques for handling them.
«Each participant had the chance to step into the shoes of a forensic expert and conduct fingerprinting on a classmate. The students quickly grasped that high-quality evidence collection is essential for solving crimes, so they approached their tasks with great responsibility», - noted Captain Max Pasichny.
Students were particularly interested in the personal experiences of the police officers, leading to discussions about real cases from practice that highlighted the importance of prompt and effective forensic work in serious crime investigations. Furthermore, law enforcement showcased video materials on the work of forensic experts involved in high-profile cases, including the examination of rocket strike sites.
Each year, graduates face the challenging decision of choosing a profession, so at the end of the meeting, police officers informed prospective students about educational opportunities within the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and potential employment in police divisions.
«I believe that such meetings help young people make informed career choices, and I would be glad if any of the gymnasium students show interest in joining the National Police of Ukraine», - concluded Senior Lieutenant Yulia Sokerchak.
