As the fourth year of war continues in Ukraine, the demand for blood donations remains exceptionally high. Healthcare professionals understand the necessity of having a steady supply of donated blood to save the lives of both military personnel and civilians.
This week in Odesa, the team at Primary Medical Care Center No. 16 conducted their twelfth blood donation drive since the start of the war. Twenty donors visited the blood transfusion station, eager to lend their strength to help others. One donation can save up to three lives.
Director Anna Pavlega stated, “Our medical facility has formed a group of regular donors. New participants join us each time, and we encourage our friends and family to donate. We are ready to give blood every two months — it’s safe, beneficial, and urgently needed by our defenders.”
The benefits of blood donation include:
- prevention of cardiovascular diseases;
- reducing the risk of certain cancers;
- renewal of the blood system and overall health;
- regular donors live 3-5 years longer;
- saving the lives of others.
Currently, blood donation is a vital contribution to Ukraine’s defense.
Up-to-date needs for blood donations in Odesa are shared on the official Telegram channels “Odesa. Official” and “Donor Odesa” with support from the Department of Information and Digital Solutions of the Odesa City Council.
Since the beginning of the war, the “Donor Odesa” project has facilitated around 13,500 blood donations, saving thousands of lives!
The “Donor Odesa” project actively participates in the annual charity initiative “Week of Good Deeds”.
