Last week, healthcare facilities in Odesa conducted a cancer screening initiative through blood tests. This event was organized with the support of the Health Department of the Odesa City Council and the local Health Center.
On that day, individuals in the laboratories of Primary Healthcare Centers and diagnostic centers could access free testing for hemoglobin levels and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) both via self-referral and electronic referral.
As a result of the event, 815 individuals sought out clinical diagnostic laboratories for cancer screening. There were 235 cases of abnormal ESR results: 226 above normal and 9 below normal. Additionally, 214 patients showed deviations in hemoglobin levels: 165 with low levels and 49 with high levels. These indicators assist in early detection of potential health issues related to cancer.
All patients with detected abnormalities are advised to consult with their family physician for further examinations to rule out oncological conditions.
