Last week, the city clinical hospital No. 10 in Odessa hosted the first masterclass in Ukraine dedicated to endovascular treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE).

Cardiologists, vascular surgeons, and anesthesiologists from various regions of Ukraine gathered in Odessa to acquire practical knowledge for implementing innovations in their daily work. The training was conducted by Artem Hovorov, head of the interventional cardiology department at the St. Michael's Clinical Hospital in Kyiv, who shared advanced experiences from Ukrainian and European specialists.

Doctors emphasize that PE, which involves the blockage of branches of the pulmonary artery by a thrombus, poses an acute risk and can lead to patient death, making it a serious challenge for physicians, comparable to heart attacks and strokes. Thus, the theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained are not merely an enhancement of professional competence but a new approach to preserving life and health.

“Development, continuous learning, and keeping pace with the times are the philosophy of modern medicine. Therefore, we are constantly incorporating the latest technologies, including equipment and methodologies,” noted Denis Sebov, the general director of hospital No. 10.

The Odessa city authorities are conducting systematic work to update the medical equipment in the city’s healthcare facilities, especially in multidisciplinary cluster hospitals.

Last year, city clinical hospital No. 10 received modern equipment for performing surgeries, radiological control of operations, and laboratory services.
