On Wednesday, June 11, the Ukrainian volleyball team played its very first match in the Nations League against the USA, the bronze medalist of the 2024 Olympics.

The match took place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and ended with a score of 3:0 in favor of Ukraine.

The first set saw the Ukrainians take an early lead with several successful runs, allowing them to clinch the set 25:22.

In the second set, the match was tightly contested until the very end. It wasn't until the score reached 20:18 that the Ukrainian team seized control, finishing the set 25:20.

With just one set needed for a historic win in the Nations League, the Ukrainians faced a rocky start in the third set but ultimately triumphed with a score of 25:23.

Special mention goes to Vasyl Tupchiy for his outstanding performance, scoring numerous crucial points and becoming the match's top scorer, aiding his team in this achievement.

This season, the International Volleyball Federation has expanded the participant list from 16 to 18 teams, splitting them into three pools of six. Each team will play 12 matches in the group stage, after which eight countries will advance to the playoffs.

Following the match against the USA, Ukraine will play three more matches this week: against Cuba (June 13), Brazil (June 14), and Iran (June 15).
