Today at 23:00, the first-ever Invictus Winter Games will commence in Whistler and Vancouver (Canada), running until February 16.
Here’s another participant from the Odessa region.
Ilya Pylypenko, a sailor in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a veteran. He was injured in September 2022 due to a tank explosion from a mine near the village of Bilohirka in the Kherson region.
«I am currently working on developing the veteran movement in Odessa. I enjoy life, swimming in the sea. I have started to appreciate the little things. Sometimes I feel like a child. After training, I joyfully jump into the sea, which feels as satisfying as washing off with a bottle after a week in a tank,» – Ilya Pylypenko shares.
At the Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler - 2025, our compatriot will compete in wheelchair basketball, 100m and 400m sprints, and swimming events including 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, and 100m freestyle.
