From October 10 to 12, 2025, Odesa hosted the National Sambo Tournament in memory of the distinguished coach Robert Babayants.
The competition featured approximately 100 athletes from various regions of Ukraine: Odesa, Kyiv, Odesa, Zhytomyr, and Mykolaiv oblasts.
The tournament included individual and team events (‘Wall to Wall’) for boys born in 2011–2013 and 2014–2016.
In the overall team ranking, the Odesa team claimed victory, with Kyiv in second place and Zhytomyr oblast taking third.
Team matches of ‘Wall to Wall’ were also held:
- 1st place — team ‘Tatami’ (Odesa);
- 2nd place — team ‘Fanat’ (Chornomorsk);
- 3rd place — team ‘Tigers’ (Odesa);
- 4th place — team ‘Gorillas’ (Kyiv).
The competitions in memory of the outstanding Odesa coach have been held annually since 2011.
