Young athletes from Odessa are showcasing their skills at the «Youth Sports Horizon Competitions».
The official opening of the III (city) stage of the «Youth Sports Horizon Competitions» took place at Odessa Lyceum No. 84.
This year, over 260 school teams are participating in sports such as basketball, volleyball, futsal, orienteering, rugby, handball, cheerleading, athletics, and chess.
Last year, there were only 119 teams, indicating a growing interest and enthusiasm among Odessa's students.
«Sports strengthen not just the body but also the spirit. Engaging students in sports lays the foundation for their future,» emphasized the importance of the project by Odessa Mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov.
The mayor also reminded that Odessa is among the first to implement the «Path of Champions» project aimed at preparing Olympic champions from school.
The event was part of a unified physical education lesson entitled «Odessa Education on the Sports Wave,» organized by the Department of Education and Science of the Odessa City Council.
