From April 4 to 6, the U-17 Ukrainian Wrestling Championship took place in Khmelnytskyi.
This event served as a qualifier for the European Championship set for June in Italy.
German Basarab (48 kg) clinched the gold medal and a spot at the European Championship with an outstanding performance. He is a member of the Odesa Wrestling Federation and competes for the Greek wrestling club, as well as the ‘Olympiets’ and ‘Dynamo’ sports societies.
Another representative from Odesa, Danilo Dragulyan, competed in the 65 kg category and, after a fierce final, secured a silver medal and a place in the Ukrainian national team.
Both athletes were expertly trained by their mentors, Viktor Synyavskyi and Oleksandr Hrabovan.
