The Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, in collaboration with EPAM Ukraine and WINWIN AI Center of Excellence, is hosting the inaugural state hackathon dedicated to artificial intelligence - the Diia.AI Contest. The primary goal is to unite engineers, scientists, and ethical AI experts to develop new solutions for government services.

Participants will work on real cases of integrating AI into the "Diia" app. Ten teams with the strongest projects will present their work on Demo Day, with the best solutions set to be integrated into "Diia".

"We generated hackathon challenges based on the requests and needs of Diia users. During the hackathon, teams will collaborate with mentors to create AI solutions that will not only improve service quality but may also form the basis for new functionalities in 'Diia' that millions of Ukrainians will benefit from," says Danilo Tsivok, Chief AI Officer of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and CEO of WINWIN AI Center of Excellence.

Winners will receive grants of up to $8,000 and mentorship from leading experts at EPAM Ukraine. Engineers, scientists, and anyone with experience in developing AI solutions can join the hackathon, either as teams of 2 to 6 or individually.

The hackathon will focus on three main areas:

  • AI for government services: developing intelligent assistants, navigating governmental services, and tailoring queries to user needs;
  • AI services for businesses: creating solutions for automating reporting, legal support, and accounting for entrepreneurs;
  • AI for optimizing government processes: speeding up operational tasks, document analysis, data verification, and prototyping new services.

The hackathon will run from November 14 to 23 in an online format, with the final Demo Day taking place offline in Kyiv on November 29. Details and registration are available through the link until November 12 inclusive.
