Starting from August 9, 2024, comprehensive renovation works at Heroes' Tribune Square (Tolbukhina) kicked off in Odesa.
The large-scale project was executed in phases, involving the repair of the roadway, street lighting, and tram tracks.
According to Odesa's mayor, Hennadiy Trukhanov, the arrival of new modern trams necessitated the repair of certain sections of the old tracks to ensure their safe passage.
The renovation at Heroes' Tribune Square was completed ahead of schedule. Thanks to the updating of the rail network and the elevation of the asphalt surface, the traffic capacity on the circular route has significantly increased.
Additionally, traffic lights have been adjusted based on preliminary traffic analysis.
Furthermore, the area around the square has been improved - high-quality road markings have been applied, and the lighting has been replaced with more efficient and economical options. As a result, movement in this area during dark hours has become safer, and tram operations have become smoother and quieter.
