On October 24, 2024, a significant meeting took place between Odessa's mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov and the newly appointed Consul General of Turkey in Odessa, Mr. Muhittin Celik. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce and discuss potential cooperation between the two nations.
Mr. Celik emphasized the importance of Turkey's support for Ukraine:
«I closely follow your updates and can affirm that your work extends far beyond mere mayoral duties. Turkey has stood by Ukraine since 2014, and we will continue our humanitarian assistance and support local initiatives».
Mayor Trukhanov expressed gratitude to the Turkish people for their support and shared hopes for enhanced cooperation, particularly in the investment sector.
«It’s a pleasure to meet you. We are thankful that Turkey is one of our strategic partners. Throughout the war, your country has provided us with substantial help, including buses, generators, medical supplies, food, and much more. Despite the war, we are committed to developing the city’s economy and are hopeful for Turkish investments», - stated Hennadiy Trukhanov.
The parties expressed their readiness to further collaboration to support humanitarian and economic projects in Odessa.
