The Mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov, met with a representative of the public organization «Birlik», Aliyev Ayaz Ali Ogly.
During their meeting, they discussed the details of the project to establish a park dedicated to Azerbaijan near the 4th station of the Great Fountain. This green area, officially named «Azerbaijan Park» since 2013, had initial landscaping projects developed, but their implementation was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and military actions.
Currently, the Azerbaijani diaspora in Odessa, which numbers over 30,000 people, has presented a new concept for the park that includes not only a recreational area but also a memorial to honor Azerbaijanis who died in the war against Russia. All expenses for the project will be covered by the diaspora itself.
«We aim to collaborate with our partners, as Odessa already has a wonderful tradition of parks created by friends of our city. This is how the Istanbul Park and the Greek Park came to be, and now — the Azerbaijan Park», noted Gennadiy Trukhanov.
The park will cover an area of over 2 hectares near the Odessa racetrack.
