A new exhibition titled "German Heritage in Ukraine and Odessa" has opened at the UNESCO center in Regensburg.

This event represents the efforts of Odessa historians and artists who have compiled unique documents and artifacts showcasing the lives of German immigrants in the Odessa region since the early 19th century.

The exhibition is divided into three sections: historical, artistic, and contemporary. The historical section was prepared by renowned Odessa historian Oleksandr Surilov, while the artistic section features works by talented Odessa artist Tatyana Romanenko.

The exhibition also highlights the cooperation between Regensburg and Odessa, along with the support that Regensburg has provided to Odessa during the war.

This exhibition was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Odessa Department of Culture and the Regensburg Department of Culture.

At the opening ceremony, Odessa Mayor Gennady Trukhanov and Regensburg Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer discussed the importance of this event, which was also attended by historians, scholars, and community representatives.

Gennady Trukhanov expressed his gratitude to everyone present for their ongoing support.

"Soon we will mark a thousand days of war, which means a thousand days of our resilience and incredible assistance from European countries, especially from Regensburg," he stated.

The Mayor emphasized that Odessa has always been a home for many peoples, each contributing to the development of the city and its unique culture.

"The German community significantly impacted the development of agriculture and infrastructure in the region. We remember this and continue to strengthen our relations," he said.

Today, our ties with Regensburg are as strong as our belief in victory and the independence of Ukraine. We hope for a brighter future and know that together we can overcome any challenges.
