Today, December 6, the World Press Photo 2024 exhibition has officially opened at the Odesa National Museum of Art. 

This year, the «Open Format» category winner is the series of photographs titled «War is Personal» by Ukrainian photographer Yulia Kochetova.

Also making it to the finals of the European region is Johanna Maria Fritz's project, «Kakhovka Hydroelectric Station: Flood in the Conflict Zone,» created during the evacuation of civilians amidst the flooding. 

The exhibition tour in Ukraine is organized by the Odesa Photo Days Festival. The exhibition features 129 photographs documenting the war, protests, migration and climate crises, and other significant events of 2023. Finalists were selected from over 61,000 works submitted by 3,851 participants from 130 countries.

The exhibition in Ukraine became possible thanks to the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ukraine. Kyiv was the first city to host the exhibition, where it was viewed by 1,000 visitors at the Dovzhenko Center from late October to mid-November.

A total of 31 regional winners from 24 countries will be represented in the exhibition, including Argentina, Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Myanmar, Palestine, Peru, the Philippines, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, the United States, and Venezuela.

The exhibition will run from December 6, 2024, to January 12, 2025. 
Entry fee: 150 / 75 UAH.

The World Press Photo Foundation is an independent organization supporting photojournalists and promoting the development of global photojournalism. The organization hosts workshops and seminars.

Odesa Photo Days is an international festival of contemporary photography established in 2015 in response to the war in Eastern Ukraine and the annexation of Crimea. Since February 24, 2022, the festival has not been held; instead, the team works with Ukrainian photographers and the international community to spread awareness about the war in Ukraine and assist those affected.
