In Odessa, the preparations for the New Year and Christmas celebrations are in full swing. Recently, city workers began assembling the main Christmas tree on Deribasivska Street.
The height of the main tree is 20 meters and its width is 9 meters. As is tradition, a Christmas star will crown the top of the tree. This year, the tree will be adorned with elements of traditional Ukrainian patterns and blue-and-yellow ribbons.
The official opening is scheduled for December 6th, on St. Nicholas Day.
“On St. Nicholas Day, there will be the opening of Odessa's main Christmas tree and a festive concert organized by the Department of Culture. Attendees will enjoy a concert by the Odessa Municipal Band and performances by talented local children from creative institutions. Festivities will continue throughout the holiday season at various municipal venues, including the zoo,” stated Ivan Liptuga, the director of the Department of Culture and International Cooperation.
Due to the martial law and curfew, mass street celebrations on New Year's Eve are not planned.
