The city of Odesa is dedicated to creating opportunities for people with disabilities to engage in physical activities, promoting their social integration and enhancing their quality of life.

As part of the program “Enhancement of Physical Culture and Sports in Odesa for 2024 – 2027”, various sports events are organized for individuals with disabilities and war veterans.

One such event was the “Black Sea Cup” for wheelchair basketball, held in collaboration with the Odesa Basketball Federation. Competing teams included “Odesa-Basket” and two teams from Kyiv - “Kyiv Lions” and “Titans”.

Individuals with disabilities also have the chance to obtain memberships for accessing sports facilities. This year, the Department of Physical Culture acquired 156 swimming pool memberships at the “Sports Academy” and 100 memberships at the “GYM” fitness club network.

In 2024, memberships were provided to individuals with disabilities, including veterans and participants in qualifying competitions. A total of 78 individuals received pool memberships, of which 30 were veterans, while 30 individuals benefited from fitness club memberships, including 16 veterans.

Next year, it is planned to increase funding to ensure access to sports facilities for individuals with disabilities.
